Preparing your Airbnb for Photos

Showcasing your Airbnb with stunning photos is so important! Put yourself in the renters shoes, if you were looking at two listings and one had just a few poor quality photos that looked like maybe it was taken with a cell phone but the other one had stunning photos in great natural ambient light that showcased everything the vacation rental had to offer, which would you choose? You would likely lean towards the one with better photos. I know, I would!

I’m going to share a few key tips to prepare your Airbnb for those perfect photos! (And if you haven’t considered hiring a professional photographer for your Airbnb Photos, I highly recommend doing so! The investment is well worth it.)

Real Estate Session Checklist - Airbnb Version

(Get my complete Real Estate Session Checklist below, or click here)

  • Thoroughly clean the entire property as you would when a new guest is coming to stay.

  • Turn on all the lights/lamps - replace burned out bulbs if necessary.

  • Close all the windows but open up the blinds/window treatments to let natural light in.

  • Make sure the ceiling fans and TV’s are turned off.

  • Clear the Kitchen and Bathroom countertops of clutter, keeping only the typical items you would have on them when new guests arrive.

  • Add a centerpiece or welcome station to one of the tables or counters. (Guest books are a nice touch as well!)

  • Fluff and arrange the pillows on the beds and smooth out the bedding as much as you can.

  • If you’re able to, try and keep electrical cords hidden in all the rooms. This really elevates the photos! It may seem so trivial, but small micro adjustments make HUGE impacts!

  • For the exterior, make sure to remove visible water hoses and trash bins, and take care of any yard maintenance required.

  • AND LASTLY: Make sure your amenities are fully stocked; laundry room, kitchen, bathrooms…If you have special amenities like a fireplace or coffee bar, your guests will want to see that! Point those things out to me when I arrive so I can make sure and capture those elements.
