The Peterson Adventures: The 2020 Holidays

The 2020 Holidays
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” That song rang through my mind even though 2020 was one of the strangest and weirdest years ever in my lifetime. But one thing won’t ever change…the love of Family!
Thanksgiving of course wasn’t as big as we typically do every year, but we had a blast anyway! My sister came over Thanksgiving morning and baked a couple of pies with the kids. They had so much fun with Nanny! (That’s what my kids call her instead of Auntie. LOL, don’t ask me why, I have no idea) Matt smoked two turkeys and one of them he wrapped in BACON! It was so good! We also had two slow-cooked hams in our favorite family glaze recipe! Macaroni salads, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin cheesecake, green bean casserole, dinner rolls, spinach salad, and more. We had food coming out of our ears. It made for some great leftovers though!
On Saturday, we went Christmas Tree hunting with my sister! The guys brought their trucks so we were able to drive deep into the woods and trek to our favorite spot behind Mt. Lassen. It’s an incredible view! We ate lunch up there and played in the snow for a bit then continued our tree search. We trekked through some trails and almost got stuck a time or two. But we found our perfect trees and got them home safely! It was an amazing day.
We also enjoyed taking the family to the Redding Garden of Lights! Such a fun event! I hope they do that every year. It’s at the Turtle Bay Arboretum Gardens. Several sections are lighted to music and my favorite spot is the light tunnels! Ok and the lighted butterflies too. Those were super cool! The family really enjoyed going!
We hope you and your family enjoyed the holiday season too!
