Should you use Marble in your home? | Redding Real Estate Photographer
One thing I absolutely love about being a Real Estate Photographer here in Redding, California, is the fact that I get to see so many gorgeous homes! It’s inspiring to see all the different styles and décor used. Each home is unique and is a reflection of the homeowner living there. This week I want to share two projects I recently photographed for Ceramic Designs and answer the question, “Should you use Marble in your home?”

First, let me tell you a little bit about Ceramic Designs. They are located in Redding, California off Airport Road and have been in the tile industry for over 30 years. They are masters at their craft and provide stunning countertops and tile work to the North State. Their reputation is phenomenal! My husband, Matt, has been their Granite Foreman for almost 20 years. And in case you didn’t know, I actually joined the team a year ago! I enjoy helping clients pick out tile and stone for their homes and managing their projects with us. Construction Front Office by day…Photographer by night and weekends!! I love it!
SHOULD YOU USE MARBLE IN YOUR HOME?
Ok, so now let’s answer that question… Marble is beautiful! It’s a natural stone, which means that it is quarried out of the earth in numerous locations across the globe. However, unlike granite or quartzite stones, marble is very soft. It is prone to scratches and staining.
If you have children in the home like I do, I would not recommend using marble in your home! Especially on countertops. If you’re retired, the kids are grown, and you don’t overuse and abuse your counters, then marble might be totally fine for you!
MARBLE ALTERNATIVES
Now, let’s talk about some alternatives…There are some man made quartz slabs now available that mimic the marble look. This is a great option for someone who wants the marble look without the risk of scratching and staining. There also are tile manufacturers that make marble looking porcelain tile, such as the shower you see below. Large format tiles are becoming more and more popular which really gives you that marble slab look without the maintenance that comes with marble.
