Engagement Session Prep: What to Bring

Preparing for your Engagement Session

What to Bring…

(Side Note: this is a little glimpse of the information found in the Bridal Guide that I send to all our #PetersonBrides! There are 86 pages full of extremely helpful information for planning out your wedding day to have the best photographic experience possible! If you want to learn more, contact me!)

It’s always a bit intimidating having your pictures taken…I know I feel the same way! But we still want the pictures to look nice, right?! Preparing for your engagement session can be a little overwhelming but here are a couple of tips about what to BRING to your engagement session! (If you want tips about what to WEAR, I wrote another blog post on that a while back and you can access that here)

POCKETS

Empty out your pockets! No seriously, empty your pockets. You don’t want to have key chains or phones showing through your pockets (especially the guys!).

TIMING

The sun sets quickly, especially if your session is not in the summer months. The later you arrive, the less time we have to shoot! Once the sun has set, the shoot will be over. So try to arrive early!

RING CLEANING

Clean your ring! I love to shoot a few rings shots while you’re changing outfits. And the cleaner the ring(s) the better!

CHANGING CLOTHES

As much as I would like to say that we always have restrooms available for outfit changes, sometimes our clients just have to do quick changes in their cars. So be prepared for that, just in case!

DEEP BREATHS

Don’t worry, I’m going to help you along the way and it’s going to be a blast! Enjoy this time together and make a date night out of it if you can!

PARKING FEE

This may not apply to your shoot, but you always want to plan in advance for a cash-only parking fee that we may encounter or any tolls.

CLOTHING

I explain more about clothing choices in the Bridal Guide, but generally, our couples will bring a casual outfit and a fancier one! If you’re unsure about a few pieces, feel free to bring all options and I can help you decide!

LIP COLOR & HAIRSPRAY

You may need to apply more lip color after one outfit change and a few kisses. (If you have a bold lip color, try to have a matte finish if possible so it won’t transfer to your groom quite so intensely). Also, bring hairspray and a brush for any needed touch-ups!!

FLIP FLOPS OR COMFY SHOES

If you’re wearing shoes that are difficult to walk in but look AMAZING, just bring some comfy shoes to change into while we walk between each shooting location! Will help to save those feet from discomfort!!

There you have it! I hope that was helpful to you. Peterson Brides, you can get this same info in your Bridal Guide and even more info! If you’re not a #PetersonBride yet, feel free to shoot me an email with your wedding details so we can chat about your Wedding Photography needs!
