R&D Construction Rebuilds After Catastrophe | Carr Fire Rebuild

Not too long ago, I was honored to photograph several more homes that Ceramic Designs has worked on. Each of these homes is a Carr Fire Rebuild which one particular construction company took care of. R&D Construction is a family run business. The owners, Rick and Brent, a father son team, saw a chance to help their neighbors, and took it! So, I was excited to get to photograph these homes for them!

First off, A Little About R&D Construction

R&D Construction is run by Rick and Brent. After the Carr Fire in 2019, they had lost the majority of the houses on the street they lived on, including their own. They made a commitment to everyone on their street and worked within their budgets and with their insurance to get the job done! They were the first to receive a Carr Fire Rebuild permit in their county and have been working on each and every Carr Fire Rebuild they can ever since finishing their street, and are committed to helping all their neighbors through the recovery process!

What A Carr Fire Rebuild Looks Like

As mentioned, their first rebuilds were all down the same street, so photographing these was a breeze! All we had to do was go from home to home in a row, snapping pictures of some of the beautiful work that they had done.

Spectacular Showers

Every home has a shower or bathroom, and these master baths are just amazing! You’ll notice a couple copper tubs below, and they are just fantastic. They’re even steel-lined, so they would hold the heat better than standard tubs! Additionally, a master shower / spare shower in one home were creatively designed. One of which had light tile with dark liner, and the other shower had the opposite, with dark tile and a light liner. The homeowner designed this artful inclusion, and Ceramic Designs brought this tilework to life!

Fabulous Fireplaces

I absolutely LOVED these fireplaces! My absolute favorite was one with ledger stone and wood beams. And included in the images further below is Brent’s personal home. His fireplace is styled with herringbone set tile and is a work of art!

Complete Kitchens

Everyone loves kitchens! And when the Carr Fire Rebuild efforts were underway, all the families were looking forward to getting an upgrade! Some of the images below showcase the demi-edges of the granite work below, and that style is even in my own home! I particularly loved the tile work with this kitchen, as each were paired carefully together with other aspects of the room to tie everything together. One of the islands was Black Forest Granite, so it was very unique! It had a four to six inch standard slab backsplash, but they did arabesque shaped tiles behind their stove from Highland Park by MSI. Additionally, their hood matched their island, so it really stood out. The owners just loved it!

Unique Extras

One of the entranceways shied away from faux wood and was switched to porcelain tile that looks like slate. And the counter from Cambria is just beautiful! Much of the column work or facade and exteriors are just amazing to see. And last but not least, let’s not forget to mention the pocket door in Rick’s home. Behind it is a whole living room and kitchen where Brent spent a lot of time using after coming back from the military!

Everyone who R&D Construction helped with their Carr Fire Rebuild, we’re so happy for you! And Rick and Brent, we are truly honored to have helped document these successes for you guys!! :)
