Keeping Guests Entertained During Portraits | Wedding Planning Tips

Your wedding day is going to be one of the most memorable and exciting days of your life, and you want to make sure that your guests have a great time too! So, while portrait time is an essential part of your wedding day, it can tend to be a bit boring for your guests. So, how can you keep your guests entertained during this time?

As a wedding photographer, I’ve seen all sorts of ideas that bride’s have used to keep their guests from getting bored. So, here are some tips to help you keep your guests entertained and engaged during portrait time on your wedding day:

Provide Entertainment Options:

One of the best ways to keep your guests entertained during portrait time is to provide entertainment for them. You can have lawn games, a photo booth, or even a live band or DJ playing music. This will give your guests something fun and interactive to do while they wait for their turn to take photos or while waiting for the reception to start.

Serve Refreshments:

Another great way to keep your guests happy during portrait time is to serve refreshments. You can have a drinks bar or cocktail hour with appetizers and snacks. This will give your guests something to munch on while waiting.

Have a Photobooth:

A photobooth is a super fun addition to any wedding day. You can either set up a booth on your own with props and backdrops, or hire a photobooth company. Your guests can take fun photos together while passing the time. (BONUS: I highly recommend these Northern California Photobooth companies: Pink Pixel Photo Booth and Nor Cal Photo Bus)

Provide Activities:

You can also provide activities for your guests to do while they wait. For example, have several game stations setup with board games or card games. This will keep your guests entertained and engaged while they wait. If children are invited as well, this would be a perfect solution to keep the kiddos occupied!

Communicate:

Make sure that your guests know what to expect during portrait time. Have the DJ or Wedding Planner inform the guests on how long the portrait time will last, and when they can expect to eat or enjoy the reception. This will help avoid any confusion or frustration.

So in conclusion, portrait time is a super important part of your wedding day, but it doesn't have to be a boring time for your guests. By planning ahead and providing entertainment options, serving refreshments, having a photobooth, games, and communicating with your guests, you can ensure that everyone has a great time and enjoys your special day!

MONTGOMERY CREEK RANCH WEDDING

Even with the intermittent rain…this wedding day was absolutely stunning! I was so amazed at how laid back Cara and Brad were even when the ceremony had to be delayed a bit due to the rain. They both were just so happy to be getting married, it didn’t matter what the weather did!
