Tracy Whitmire is an interior designer in California who works for Plaza Interiors, but who does her own design work! A client who I've worked with before referred her to me, and Tracy wanted me to take some pictures of her work! 

Now, the really cool thing about Plaza Interiors is that there's a lot of professional interior designers who work part time for the owners, but they all have their own design companies outside of that!

Interior Designer in California Spotlight

This home is near the Tierra Oaks Golf Course. Northwest Homes is the one who built the house, and Tracy Whitmire is the interior designer in California who made the home come to life! This house is just gorgeous! It’s freshly built and unique. It has a modern flavor but is crossed with a rustic type flare. One of the critical elements that Tracy Whitmire used in the design is that pretty much everything in the home is natural stone or natural wood! Those are real wood beams in those photos, not fake! Of course, the fireplace is natural stone, and any tile is real travertine or cut marble.

Completely Natural Feel

All the countertops in the home were made of marble or fusion quartzite, which just added to that all-natural feel! The drapery in the master and guest bathrooms are custom-made colors and patterns! And, the fireplace in the master bedroom is a pass-through fireplace with two sides - you don’t see that too often! So there’s a sitting place on one side and the master bedroom on the other.

What Makes it Unique

What’s cool is that one master side has handcrafted tiles, but the other has a different tile and color scheme. The fireplace on one side is set in the sitting room with that design, but the other side incorporates the design of the master bedroom. This whole layout was really cool and unique. On the master’s side is a raised balcony that overlooks an open grass field, and off to the left is the Tierra Oaks Golf Course. Of course, it’s all slate tile on the patio! And probably one of the most incredible design choices in the home is that the tile which starts on the front porch carries on through to the foyer down the hallway into the living room. So when you walk in, the tile actually takes you through the house. Tracy Whitmire knows exactly what she’s doing and is such an inspirational interior designer in California because this was just beautiful and so well made!

The Outsides

The backyard was so pretty! There was an in-ground pool with an elevated hot tub and an outdoor kitchen, and the area was a mirror image of the front of their house! The natural wood beams come out from the home in a raised peak. It matched the front of the home and interior, as those beams seemed to continue throughout the house.

Landscaping at the front was unique, too, and had a lot of lambs ear. You don’t see that too often, even though it does grow wild out here. But to see it used in the landscape was pretty cool and made me want to pick some up and use them in my front yard. This was an excellent low-maintenance solution to the front yard that looked amazing!
