Clay + Ashley

Backyard Garden Wedding | Redding, California

One of the worst things that can happen to a bride would be having to reschedule her wedding day. With all the crazy COVID-19 situations we’ve faced, Ashley and Clay were faced with that dreaded decision “Do we proceed or reschedule?” And the choice they made was hard but it turned out so beautiful! Instead of completely rescheduling their plans, they just changed it up a bit! Instead of the original venue they had picked, they chose to be married in their parent’s backyard (which was gorgeous by the way!) with the closest of friends and family. It was a beautiful ceremony!

Normally in Northern California by June it’s getting pretty hot outside during the day. But not the 6th of June 2020! I think God knew that a gorgeous couple was getting married at 11 am that day and the weather was in the low 70’s with a gentle breeze. It was wonderful!!! I also absolutely loved the decor and color theme. Ashley’s bouquet had blush pink roses with succulents tucked in here and there. The reception tables were decorated with succulents, candles, and wooden hearts with the word “love” inscribed on them. Her cake was a beautiful 2-tier with succulents running up one side and a gorgeous gold “C” topper. The succulents on the cake were made out of fondant and they looked soooo real! I was thoroughly impressed! Kristina did an amazing job on that cake (and the cupcakes too!).

Because they were not able to have all of their guests at this intimate wedding day, they planned a Drive-Thru wedding following the lunch reception! Cars lined up along the street in front of Ashley’s parent’s house with signs, balloons, and a bunch of well-wishes for the newlyweds. Later that evening we met back up at a gorgeous lavender field for sunset portraits and let me just tell you…I could’ve stayed out there forever! Ha! It was sooo beautiful! And peaceful. We captured some really epic portraits and the owners even invited me back if I had another client wanting to use the fields! Definitely check out 29 Rows Lavender when you have a chance (link at the bottom of this post).

I’ve known Ashley for many years now. We even worked together for a couple of those years. I really value the friendship we’ve developed over the years and I am just soo thrilled she found the love of her life. She caught a good one! Clay has such a heart of gold and the two of them together are just perfect! I’m excited about what life holds for them in the future as a couple. We were so honored to be a part of their wedding day!

I hope you enjoy some of our favorite images from their beautiful, backyard garden wedding!

You may be wondering why the Bride’s father is holding up four fingers? He raised four beautiful daughters and Ashley was the final one to be married! This was such a sweet Daddy Daughter dance!!

Drive-Thru Wedding Time!!!

This one gives me chills!! They are soooo good at model pose!
